Hilde & Walt
After a long search looking for peace and space, we found this beautiful old domain. Walt had been in love with Portugal and its people for more than 25 years, more recently it was a wonderful discovery for Hilde. We moved here to get away from the hustle and bustle in Belgium to live a simpler and more conscious life. We want to offer our guests the warmth and hospitality with which we ourselves were welcomed by the locals upon our arrival in Assumar.
Living in the Alentejo
Portugal and the Portuguese get to you. The social fabric of life is still very strong here. Much happens at a calmer pace than we are used to at home; an art of living that the Alentejans have mastered since long. Far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and mass tourism, you can breathe freely in the overwhelming expanse of beautiful nature. We’re looking forward to let you enjoy all the beauty and goodness this region offers. Living here is a privilege.
